How do you use this Career Guide binder?

There is a separate tab for each occupation cluster listed on the home page.

Each tab contains the following information for one or more occupations:

  • Occupation overview
  • Future growth opportunities
  • Job descriptions
  • Skill requirements
  • Experience requirements
  • Education/training required
  • Bay Area education/training resources available [see notes (1) & (2)]
  • Employers who will be hiring [see note (1)]
  • Recommended job search strategy

Notes:

(1) The descriptions of "education/training resources" and "employers who will be hiring" are examples and not an exhaustive listing. This information changes frequently (especially employer hiring plans). There is no substitute for personal initiative on the part of the job seeker in researching training and employer opportunities that meet his/her specific needs.

(2) Education/training costs in the Community College tables are for California residents only. Higher costs will apply to others.

Also in this section is a handy "QUICK LOOK" at these emerging occupationsuse it to rapidly find the jobs which have:

  • Highest pay
  • Lowest entry-level education requirements
  • Lowest cost education/training requirements
  • Shortest commute or are closest to home
